When police arrest an accused, they must produce him before a Judicial Magistrate within 24 hours under Article 10 of the Constitution and Section 167 CrPC. The police request Physical Remand for investigation. We appear before the Magistrate to oppose physical remand, expose police custodial torture or lack of evidence, and request that the accused be sent to Judicial Custody (Jail Remand) so that post-arrest bail can be moved immediately.

Non-compoundable offenses (such as robbery, dacoity, or terrorism) cannot be compromised at the police station level, though compromise in non-compoundable matters can be cited before the High Court under Section 561-A CrPC to seek sentence reduction or case quashment.
